The year 2020 seemed promising, an ambition of sweeping change marked the beginning of the “decisive decade” and the countdown to the fulfillment of the 2030 Sustainability Agenda. It seemed that a sense of urgency was at last penetrating in the collective consciousness in response to the plights of climate change and hyper-consumerism. Political leaders accelerated their Green Deal commitments, Greta Thunberg became a global icon, 181 CEOs redefined CSR and the rules of capitalism at the Business Roundtable while Brand Purpose became the most powerful words in conference rooms around the world.
And then came COVID-19. And many well-intentioned plans were abandoned.
The COVID pandemic has propelled us into a future that many predicted, bringing us face to face with a planetary catastrophe with profound and lasting consequences. AWĀ Planet’s name was inspired by the concepts of “awareness” and “awakening”, by the vision of generating ideas that could awaken and stir consciences. The pandemic has done a large part of that work for us, in one giant leapfrog, forcing the reflection of more than 7 billion people on the impossibility of living a healthy life on an unhealthy planet.
During this crisis, numerous companies have proven their commitments to society’s wellbeing, but there is still much work to be done to consolidate their roles as change agents in building a more sustainable and fairer future for all.
AWĀ Planet is celebrating its first anniversary and will continue to drive the Sustainable Development Goals with relentless commitment and passion. Our services include strategic consultancy, third sector partnership development and creative activations. In our first year alone we’ve advanced in the 2030 Agenda with clients such as Pastoret, SEO BirdLife, Gardeniers, Asociación Ambiente Europeo y Ocean Conservancy, Inuit Foundation o Alain Afflelou.
